CEMAC, just like MCHHH & Club Citla (below) is a non-lucrative & registered Civil Association with a great variety of extreme sports programs, to include.. walking.
They are inviting Hashers and NON Hashers only to travel with them. This organization was founded in March 1922 by US born Otis Mc Callister. CEMAC expert guides will show you Mexico's many mountains, valleys, lakes, underground rivers and caverns, cascades, achaeological ruins, forests, jungles, deserts and many ofther FASCINATING sites. If needed, CEMAC can provide climbing equipment and your input, experiences are important to us.
Both organizations intend to join Mata Hari & Mexico City Hashers in our upcoming events.

El 27 de Julio iniciamos el recorrido aproximadamente a las 9 AM, terminamos 9 horas mas tarde. Iniciando el recorrido. Nos bajamos del camión, nos pusimos nuestras mochilas y a ¡¡¡¡caminar!!! Nuestro guía Carlos Arredondo iba hasta adelante marcando el paso.
Club Citlatelpetl is a non-profit walking club that has organized excursions into the Mexican countryside since it’s foundation in 1924. With our own bus and driver (so you can relax after your exertions) we run trips every weekend and on public holidays.
Subimos a paso moderado el cerro conocido como "Alumbres". Sus árboles altísimos forman un bosque muy tupido por el que casi no pasa el sol.
Each outing is planned by an experienced guide along interesting routes, often visiting out of the way villages and peaks. Along the way you’ll find yourself in friendly company with a mix of new and more knowledgeable walkers to help you enjoy your day.

Our program includes activities for all from babies in arms to retirees and is designed so that everyone can enjoy hiking whatever their level of fitness and experience. Many trips have varying levels of challenge, so you can enjoy a nice long walk in the countryside and a picnic or go all out and hike a few hills before meeting up for lunch.

During weekend of July 5, 2008 our group, presided by Juan Carlos Chávez and about 70 members planted a total of 200 trees at the top of Desierto de los Leones Park. One of our major tasks during our trips is to pick up empty plastic bottles and canned products that harm the environment. Help us in this campaign by utilizing large containers to dispose of these hazzards to nature.
AMANITA MUSCARIA. Este hermoso honguito digno de ser la casita de Papá Pitufo, se llama científicamente "Amanita Muscaria" y al consumirse provoca efectos psicotrópicos y alucinaciones.También se le llama "Fly Agaric" porque se utilizaba para matar moscas al dejarlo cortado sobre un plato. Otros creen que se trata del famoso "soma", un alucinógeno que se utilizaba en la India con fines rituales pero esto no está comprobado. No sé cuantos se necesitan para lograr un efecto interesante. Al menos a mi se me antoja mas fotografiarlo que comérmelo.. ¡jjjj!
For over 84 years the club has organized walks, rock climbing and mountain climbing with expert guides. We also have special events such as climbing trips, mountain biking, expeditions along underground rivers and snorkeling.

For those that want to improve their technical skills the club runs courses in climbing, hiking and high altitude expeditions. Of course, with Mexico’s highest mountain as our name, the more adventurous hiker can expect summit attempts on some of our highest and more challenging peaks.

OUR HISTORY
On Saturday 12th June 1924, a number of colleagues had managed to meet after our labours in the National Library, when my Friend, Mr. Manuel Rodriguez de San Miguel Jr., invited me on a walking trip to Contreras for the following day, Sunday. I accepted happily given the programme outlined. Also attending were my sister Guadalupe Hernández Barrón, Manuel Rodríguez de San Miguel, Jr., Dr. Manuel Collado, Ing. Roberto España, Jorge Bardawil, Roberto Ramos, Armando C. Servin, Jenaro Aguilar, Ricardo Vigueras and the writer.
Llegar a este punto nos tomó mas de 4 horas. No sabemos quien fué el valiente que se animó a acarrear el material necesario para construir esta capilla en la mera cima. Si con la pura mochila ya no podíamos, imagínense con blocks y cemento, ¡wow!
We left Contreras very early talking the high path on the right following the * ravine * until the third *dam*, with the aim of dominating the route and turning right again in the direction of Peña de la Coconetla.

A radiant sun lighted our path amongst the follage of the lovely wood; every now and again we made stops, so that some could rest, admire the view or take photos to serve as memories of that beautiful trip.Singing and whistling we arrived very happy at about 12 midday at a small valley situated right where the climb to Peña de la Coconetla started. We baptized it “Little Avocado Valley” , having sown there various stones of this fruit.

A few moments after our arrival, heavy clouds formed above us and it started to rain heavily, forcing us to camp there and eat, very content; it was in this beautiful place that that it occurred to me the idea of forming the club that quickly would be called the Association of Mexican Explorers, using the press to get it’s name widely known and using this route for the first excursion. Later I changed the name to CLUB "CITLALTEPETL" DE MEXICO.
Casi en la cima tuvimos esta vista del parque nacional. Habíamos subido ya 500 mts de altura y muchísimos mas en distancia. Nos tomó casi 2 horas llegar a este punto.
Six months after forming the club, I published, with my own money, and made available to the club "EL EXCURSIONISTA"; 2 editions appeared, the first in January and the second in the February of 1925. Both editions were in the form of a magazine with green card covers and 16 and 18 pages respectively.

El Club Citlaltepetl de México A.C. es una organización de excursionismo no lucrativa, que desde su fundación organiza excursiones al campo. Frecuentemente entre las personas que visitan nuestro pais y tambien entre los turistas nacionales, se encuentran quienes desean convivir con la naturaleza. Para nuestras excursiones contamos con autobús propio en el cual cada fin de semana o dias festivos realizamos recorridos sumamente interesantes con guias experimentados y dentro de un ambiente respetuoso.
En nuestro programa incluimos actividades para todo tipo de personas:
niños, jóvenes, adultos o personas mayores de tal manera que puedan realizar el deporte del excursionismo según su nivel y capacidad.
EL 12 DE JULIO, 2008 EL CLUB CITLA CUMPLIO SUS PRIMEROS  84 AÑOS DE EXISTENCIA.
Para bajar tuvimos que seguir este arroyo. La bajada nos tomó 3 horas y hay algunas partes dificiles ya que por tanta lluvia el suelo y las piedras están cubiertos de musgo y por lo tanto son .. super resbalosos.
Todo el público en general está cordialmente invitado a participar en nuestras excursiones: Es necesario CONFIRMAR asistencia llamando al 5264-3258 ó 5584-1497 entre lunes y viernes de 4PM a8PM con Laura ó use esta forma para escribirnos por el correo electrónico. .
Por favor entérese al detalle de nuestra siguiente excursión, arriba. Costo p/p será de $ 230 pesos e incluye el viaje de ida y vuelta, servicio de guía profesional. Se sugiere llevar su propia comida, ropa abrigadora, apropiada para temporada de lluvias, una lámpara de mano, botas de suela antiderrapantes. El estacionamiento en la calle al llegar al club es bajo su propio riesgo. Es mejor usar transporte público. Estamos a una distancia corta -caminando- de la estación Hospital General del metro.

Historia
El sábado 12 de junio de 1924, nos hallábamos reunidos, después de nuestras labores en la Biblioteca Nacional, varios compañeros, cuando mi amigo el señor Manuel Rodríguez de San Miguel, Jr., me invitó para hacer el día siguiente, domingo, una excursión a Contreras. Acepté gustoso de acuerdo con el programa trazado. Asistieron mi hermana Guadalupe Hernández Barrón, Manuel Rodríguez de San Miguel, Jr., Dr. Manuel Collado, Ing. Roberto España, Jorge Bardawil, Roberto Ramos, Armando C. Servin, Jenaro Aguilar, Ricardo Vigueras y el que esto escribe.
Salimos de Contreras muy de mañana tomando el camino alto de la derecha siguiendo la cañada hasta el tercer dinamo, con el fin de ir dominando el paisaje y dando vuelta a la derecha otra vez, para dirigirnos la Peña de la Coconetla.
Un sol radiante iluminaba nuestro camino, entre el ramaje del precioso bosque; de cuando en cuando se hacían altos, ya para descansar algunos, ya para admirar el panorama o para tornar fotografías que deberían servirnos como recuerdo de esa hermosa excursión
Cantando y silbando llegamos muy contentos, como a las doce del día, a un vallecito que se encuentra precisamente donde empieza la subida para la Peña de la Coconetla, al que bautizamos con el nombre de Valle de los aguacatitos, por haber nosotros sembrado allí varios huesos de este fruto.
A los pocos momentos de nuestra llegada, nos envolvieron espesas nubes y comenzó a llover fuertemente, obligándonos a acampar allí y comimos muy contentos; fué en este hermoso lugar donde se me ocurrió formar el Club al que por de pronto denominé Asociación Exploradores Mexicanos, dándolo a conocer ampliamente por el medio de la prensa y tomando ese paseo como su primera excursión; posteriormente le cambié el nombre por el de CLUB "CITLALTEPETL" DE MEXICO.

A los seis meses de haberse formado el Club, publiqué de mi peculio y puse a la disposición del Club, como su órgano propio, "EL EXCURSIONISTA"; aparecieron dos números, el primero en el mes de enero y el segundo en el de febrero de 1925. Ambos números fueron hechos en forma de revista con forros de cartoncillo verde y de 16 y 18 páginas, respectivamente.

Nuestros maestros de aventura, encabezados por Gastón Almada, en camisa a cuadros y lentes, orgullosamente de Nogales, Sonora quien en cada viaje comparte su amplísima experiencia internacional en montañismo con los Citlas, retirado de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe.
